Testing for heavy metals in products

I didn’t know where to post this but has anyone or any labs ever done testing for heavy metals in their products?

It’s great to be on point for primo test etc labs and concentrations but heavy metals should be a big concern too

Yes. It’s been done a bunch. Abandoned because it wasn’t a concern and then resurrected a year ago. Still not a concern.

Matrix and Hypertrophy both sent samples for metals.

Nothing significant.

There was some jackass named @readalot that was trying to convince everyone there was heavy metals in their gear and product.

Few sources eventually did tests for metals. Nothing was ever found. Seems like a useless avenue of testing, rather see increased HPLC testing personally than going down the rabbit hole of useless/inapplicable tests

Every heavy metals test I’ve seen had nothing found. Interesting enough a recent think big bodybuilding podcast with some guy from Australia doing HPLC testing claims to have found arsenic and a bunch of other stuff in his heavy metals testing…. Which is odd as this has never been seen on Jano testing.

There’s a whole laundry list of heavy metals but I asked Jano which ones his heavy metal test checks for and it was only like 4 of them…believe it was lead,cadmium,arsenic and mercury…but unless looking for a specific metal or paying a bunch of money to test for all of them…I think the Jano heavy metal test is going to be limited

I have no clue what goes into making gear so there’s no one specific heavy metal that I would be concerned about…it’s more just the possibility of others such a nickel copper iron chromium and cobalt that could potentially be in gear but not checked for necessarily…then god forbid someone is spiking our gear with uranium

But i guess my point is…heavy metals are known to be liver and neuro toxic.. so god forbid my gear has heavy metals in it that I’m unaware of…maybe that could also be contributing to my liver issues? I know it’s far fetched but I try to think of all possibilities

I guess in lieu of sending out samples for testing….I’m going to take your apparent lack of concern coupled with your expertise…and say testing is probably going to find nothing …so thank you for that!

Honestly…even if I was going to send it for testing…how do we know that Jano would ACTUALLY test for ALL the heavy metals I pay to have gear checked for? It’s not like testing for the quality of gear on a blind test where we have an idea of what we’re already sending him….we have NO idea if there’s any heavy metals in the gear in the first place…unless we intentionally send him a sample that DOES have heavy metals in it as a “control” test to keep Jano honest….great results from a heavy metals test would simply be….”no heavy metals present” how do we know he wouldn’t just be telling us what we wanna hear to send us on our merry way with $180 bucks in his pocket ….idk that’s just how my mind works…I trust no one

I’m not shitting on Jano…I’m sure he’s legit…my original post was merely trying to point out that his testing (and probably other company’s who test) are not testing for a comprehensive list of heavy metals unless specifically requested for and paid for…it’s most likely just a handful of them.
