So John Meadows had a heart attack

Most of you are probably aware of this, but yesterday John Meadows suffered a heart attack. Preliminary info suggests it’s related to clotting complications.

John is one of the guys at the forefront of using reasonable amounts of gear while also focusing on cardiovascular fitness, and this still happens. Why?

There’s no way around it, being 200+lbs shredded is VERY hard on the heart, no matter how much cardio you do. Add in TRT at doses that are barely considered real TRT, and you have a recipe for bad things pretty quickly.

Someone is going to comment, “But John has a family history of this, ur stupid hurr durr.” You don’t have to have a family history for something to happen at a young age, especially with gear being involved.

Might be a good wake-up call for a lot of guys out there who are 200lbs+ and 25-30% body fat running 2g+ of gear per week.

Yes obviously being 225 shredded is going to put a lot more stress on your heart over someone who’s also 225 but with moderate body fat (~15%). There’s a reason why older guys tend to downsize if they care about their health

Ok but he literally does have a family history of heart complications, both his mother and father had a heart attack in there 30s. Johns lifestyle is probably what prolonged him from eventually getting a heart attack. He was just dealt a shitty set of cards

I get what you’re trying to say but using what happened to John Meadows to promote harm reduction is a pretty bad example

I agree with you, - except for Meadows he has his own history of a clotting disorder - that’s how he lost is colon.

His wife is providing updates on his Facebook. Heart attack from 2 clots - i’m obv not a dr - but I’d imagine he is still super high risk for a stroke, pulmonary embolism, etc…

Luke Sandoe last week, Meadows with this now… 2020 wtf.

Hope he gets through this okay. Maybe he should downsize a lil bit, he is still a damn massive piece of walkin’ muscle, and he retired. One of the few legit genuine and good guys in the industry.

Shows that there is still a risk in this, even if you get bloods frequently, watch your diet, do your cardio and all that, do not drink and party etc, even smart use of AAS has a price tag attached. Some guys are lucky and never get anything while taking insane amounts, others, not so lucky.

I’m still okay with the choice I made, worth the risk to me, just hope everyone else is aware of it.

Despite Genetics it’s a good idea to slim down when you’re approaching 50.

Rich Piana gasping for air while talking, a good example of what happens when you’re carrying way too much mass.

John is a sane man, he focuses on hard workouts with injury prevention in mind and not gear, he never supported the reckless use of AAS to the masses.

I’m sure he’ll be fine and hopefully he’ll change his lifestyle to reflect his new reality.

Straw man argument because it fits: This is about as dumb as recommending people reconsider their gear doses because they could end up with hip replacement surgeries since Ronnie Coleman was on gear and it happened to him.

Update:

No plaque build up in arteries at all. 2 blood clots were blocking 2 different arteries, one has been cleared so far with blood thinners. The doctors believe it to be linked to the blood disorder John had that lead to the remove of his colon years ago.

I wouldn’t fear monger however most all of the better studies on AAS are carried out on men from 18 to 35 and they are always short term studies say less than a year.

I’m telling you young guys your body changes as you approach 50, I felt like superman at 30,31,32,33,34 and then I didn’t feel so great at 35,36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45…aches and pains starting to get beat up, blood pressure…ect 46,47…and on into the future.

This is reality. John has some bad genetics inherited from his parents, I have bad genetics inherited from my dads side of the family, mixed with fantastic genetics from my moms side.

You never know what life is gonna throw at you.

One piece of advice I can give that i think doesn’t get mentioned enough is get good health insurance. And get a CT Scan of your heart every 5 years after 30 or 40. A calcium score of 0 i think gives you 0-5% chance of having a heart attack in the next 5-10 yrs.

At 50 being on T is probably a good thing, Superdrol probably not a good thing.

Choose what you take with care as you age.

Update

Update on John. He is coming home today! They did alot of testing this morning, and found his heart size is completely normal, there is no calcification buildup in arteries, but there is some weakness due to the clots that were there. The weakness is about 10% of decreased heart function and could return to normal if things go right. They could not find the source of the clots but he is on blood thinners to manage that. He has bounced back very strongly from this. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Anyone think Greg Doucettes video about it an hour after it happened was shitty?
Like John is still in the hospital in unknown condition and this guy Greg is like “quick i gotta put up a video eople will click it”, uploading a video get views and make money off a guys heart attack like some gossip magazine. Especially when John has his own youtube channel

Glad to hear hes alright

John got a calcium test too and got a score in the 88th percentile…not absolute top tier but definitely better the majority of people.

I thought the same thing. Why all these YT guys sell their soul for the clicks and views, I don’t get it. It’s one thing if he was tight with John but he even admitted in the vid that he only casually met John a few times.

Yup I just saw his post. His calcium score was 19. Which is categorized as mild heart disease and a moderate chance for a heart attack. He also stated on his post that he’s never had a the ct scan done before. The goal is to have a score of 0-10 from what my cardiologist said. It also takes years for your score to go up so it doesn’t just take 5 years to get to 19. This has been brewing for a while for him.
