@Aliass Yes, while hormones in general are fairly robust and can withstand some heat, if you reached a temperature in which the oil started to smoke then you will have achieved a temperature in which the hormone has started to break down and begin the degradation process. Carbon is the byproduct and will start to darken the oil, the darker the oil the more carbon you are releasing from oil and hormone alike. Additionally, if you have a sterilizing agent added already, chances are that has evaporated as well. Arguably, heat cleanses everything but at the cost of destroying that which it cleanses.
