Losing strength on a cut

How normal is losing strength on a cut? I’m 5’ 8 and 170, cut on about 1500cal crash cut and dropped about 5lbs in two weeks so I could have abs for the summer. My bench working weight dropped by 50lbs. Is this normal strength loss and how could I get it back other than bulking? Any way to prevent this strength loss other dieting slower?

@Jy10871 that is quite a bit but I go through the same thing as I’m sure every one else does. I’m trying to break myself of getting fixated on numbers when what I should be really dialed in on is form and making the exercise as brutal as possible for the specified rep range.

It’s expected to have to drop the weight some during a cut, in addition to rolling back some volume, but the best way to maintain it and progress it is through execution, from what I’ve seen.

I myself do this by recording my sets and focus on making the reps as pretty as possible. Sucks having to drop weight to make it happen but it is what it is.

@Dutchpharma what’s your dosage/protocol for hgh? Always been thinking of trying it but I heard the benefits are marginal

@Dutchpharma thanks man. I think I’m convinced to try out hgh now. Just deciding whether to use it on a blast or a cruise now
