We are happy to see more and more sources embracing HPLC testing of their raws and finished products, and we’re even more ecstatic to see community members getting testing done independently in order to hold sources accountable for the goods they produce.
As a community centered on Harm Reduction, we were interested in contextualizing some of these test results by comparing them to common pharmaceutical products. For example, a “UGL” may produce a number of orals with varying dosages, perhaps ranging from 90% of labeled dose to 110% of labeled dose, achieving a +/-10% variance on a 20% spread. Without being able to compare to a pharmaceutical product, we lack the context to determine whether or not that is good or bad, or even simply whether it is acceptable or not.
In order to add some context, we happily made a donation to a charity of @Janoshik’s choice and he was kind enough to perform the following tests:
APO-IBUPROFEN 400mg
GSK-PANADOL 500mg (Paracetamol/Panadol)
Noting laboratory margin of error (+/-5%, per @Janoshik) we can see a range of 91.96% - 104.73% in the Ibuprofen, a spread of ~12.77%.
In the Panadol we can see a range of 91.59% - 108.13%, a spread of 16.54%.
We welcome any commentary on the topic and hope that you might let us know if these board-sponsored experiments are of interest to you.
