Best way to recomp on first cycle?

Hey guys, I just began my first ever blast of 500mg Test E every week. I was planning on just doing a straight bulk (+500 cals or so), but after hearing about other peoples experiences on their first cycles I have decided I might try to take advantage of my sensitive receptors and maybe even recomp. Main goal is still putting on size, but leaning out simultaneously would be awesome. Anyone here have any experience with this? What was your approach?

To me, recomping is a myth. You are either gaining muscle, or losing fat. Doing both at the same time is extremely difficult and inefficient. Not to mention test is going to raise your estrogen levels making it more challenging to lose fat. You made no mention of estrogen management. 500mg of test a week is going to make you a bloated/fat mess without it. Especially on a first cycle.

Where is your bodyfat % currently? If you are over 20%, you need to focus on cutting. If you are under 15, you can work on adding size.

You can and most likely WILL lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously on your first cycle. Eat at maintenance or maybe 100-200 calories above your current maintenance (your maintenance calories will go up when you begin steroids). There are several scenarios where it is very easy to recomp:
  1. If you’re very overweight
  2. If you’re a beginner in the gym
  3. IF YOU INTRODUCE STEROIDS
It becomes harder and harder to recomp as you get leaner, as you build more and more muscle, and as you get further past your genetic limit. As you get bigger and bigger, you will require more and more steroids to be able to pull off a recomp unless you get detrained by taking an extended period off the gym. That being said, will you build more muscle eating at a bigger surplus? Yes, you will. But if your goal is to lose fat at the same time, then stay near maintenance calories.

You will most definitely need AI on 500mg test-E. I’d begin it ~2 weeks or less into the cycle. It won’t be a lot, but a small dose like 0.25mg adex EOD or E3D.

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate how active you guys are on here. I have asin on hand so I was planning 12.5mg E3.5D (on injections)

I was looking at the last scenario in terms of recomp. I’m not new to the gym, nor am I very overweight. But this is my first time with a blast. Only every been on TRT!

Yep, you can expect a solid recomp then. As for the ASIN, just be aware that it has a very short half life so it’s better to take it everyday, maybe every other day in your case. Even if that means decreasing the dose to 6.25mg every other day. I’m assuming you have the aromasin in capsule form, so it gets a little messy where you have to open up the capsule and maybe mix half of the powder in water and drink it. If it’s in pill form, it’s easier.

Or, maybe go ahead with 12.5mg 2-3x a week and see how you feel. If you start noticing high estro sides then it’ll be best to increase frequency.

Recomp is easy bud. Figure out your maintenance calories and eat at or around that amount every day while you’re on cycle and preferably running a compound lift focused program as opposed to just chasing a pump or doing a bro split.

AI is based on the user and it’s idiotic to just pop powerful drugs at intervals designated by a bro online “just because.” If you happen to notice issues with your nipples and aren’t just being paranoid then take a low dose and give it a day. No fix, take another dose and wait a day. Etc. Once the problem is solved, stop taking the AI until problems reappear.
