i appreciate any help in advance. I placed an order and paid over $1k to syn and have been ghosted. Have used him in the past and had great results, that’s why it’s particularly puzzling.

U got phished....Thats not Syns email address. Thats a scammer who stole ur money.

Always check the EXACT spelling to the sources email on their thread. This one re arranged a couple letters to trick u and it worked.

I don’t know how that could be… I’ve used him before and have just responded to the same email thread that I’ve always used.

If you've been phished, the scammer has access to your email account. When you send an outgoing message they intercept it and change the receiver. The best indication would be by looking at the email accounts in the headers. Check the email address in the header of the last email you had with Syn on your previous order. Then check the email address in the header of the first email you had with Syn on the new order.

If you sent $1.1k to someone who wasn't who you intended to, most likely yes.

Are these people just randomly gaining access to anyone's account and then looking for ways to exploit them. Or are these targeted because they knew he was ordered gear or something illicit? Curious, did you use an encrypted email to contact SF, or did you email him from a hotmail/gmail/live type account? And do you use the same password anywhere else? Have you ever had an SST account before this one?

Might help reveal a few possible vulnerabilities.

I used gmail and I’m sure at some point have used that password before but not currently. Just made the SST account to discuss this issue. Havnt had any issues in the past so Havnt needed one before this.

So it sounds like someone phished your Gmail, saw you were planning on ordering gear with Bitcoin and used that as there opportunity. Interesting

Moving forward, I would run something like malwarebytes and other anti-virus software to make sure you computers clean. Even then they could miss it. Hell I'd probably wipe my computer clean if I found out someone was able to access my email. Change all your passwords as well.

And for the love of god, don't use an unencrypted email service, ESPECIALLY GOOGLE. Do you have any idea the amount of information they collect on you? Anyone buying this sort of stuff should really educate themselves on internet privacy/anonymous just as well as they know anabolics.

Man definitely get an encrypted email for orders in the future. I haven't read all the comments so someone else may if already said this but yeah stay away from Gmail etc.
