Chiropractor question

So I just got a job where I get free chiropractor visits occasionally… Who has experience with chiropractors? Are they worth it? Or is it a waste of my time? I occasionally have a little bit of a stiff next and sometimes a little bit of pain between my shoulder blades. Will a chiropractor help with any of this?

If it’s free there is nothing to lose (unless the guy hurts you doing his work).

In my experience, I love going to the chiro, feels so damn good. But I am a guy who cracks my own knuckles, toes, neck and back frequently. I feel like the chiro does some cracking (adjusting) that I can’t do myself, some deep stuff.

However, on the flip side, I feel like the adjustment lasts like a day or less. I leave the chiro office standing erect, perfect posture, feel great, and hours later i am already slouching again.

If it was free I would go as often as possible, if I have to pay out of pocket, I go rarely. Always enjoy a good adjustment.

Also on your first and maybe even second appointment, it’s highly unlikey they will give you the aggressive adjustment that is satisfying. YMMV

Used to get free chiro as well. Like Curley said, I loved the visits!
Helped that it was a young hot Asian chick 😃 (yes, she was a legit chiro lol)

Anyways, take full advantage of that bro!

Consider that after adjustments, you shouldn’t be lifting usually for 24 hours. Same goes for serious massage. You run the risk of injury or undoing whatever the chiro/masseuse just did for you. Additionally, unless you have serious alignment issues, adjustments are not going to fix the root cause of your problems. Sure it feels good but like mentioned, it’s temporary. People do come out feeling worse sometimes and nerves can get pinched and cause lots of serious issues.

Having said all that, I would use them but sparingly. If you have a real issue, you need to work with a movement or rehab specialist to fix the root cause.

The one thing I noticed with going to the chiropractor is that it alleviated my lower back pain. Found out it was due to hip issues and hitting the chiropractor has seemed keep them aligned and kept my back from overcompensating and hurting. But also like above, be cautious when you use it.

Chiro is about 50/50 medical relevancy and complete bullshit. However, I do have a chiro who specializes in soft-tissue work (ART, scraping, etc) and that guy is a fucking miracle worker. As a competitive powerlifter getting body-work done is an essential part of meet prep.

Take advantage of free self-care. If the guy blows don’t go back

I recommend if you see one make sure he/she is knowledgable in sports medicine, movement and lifting, some older chiros are completely against it. Look up clinical athlete and search for one in your area. There’s a few on Instagram who preach movement mechanics above all else. A couple are pretty damn strong too. Talking 700lb squats and dead’s.

100% agree with this. Not a big fan of chiropractic work. But for body builders and strength athletes I Highly recommend Getting Active release, Myo facia release, Deep tissue massage, and scraping. This is essential for your muscles to get stronger and grow. They get bound up by facia and scar tissue that will stop muscle growth and cause you not to be able to activate as much muscle tissue while lifting . This equals not getting stronger or growing.

Most of what the chiro will do is complete bullshit. All the new research is showing how Chiropractic/soft tissue therapy and things of that sort are full of shit. My advice is find a PT who lifts weights as he/she would likely be of the best help. And remember, if you are seeing a good Pt, you won’t have to see them all the time as they will be fixing your issues instead of taking your money through more visits
