No you don't use an alias as it can flag the postal worker not to deliver the package.
PO boxes are used occasionally, but there's only a few reasons to use one, like in the case where you live with someone that could possibly encounter a controlled delivery and accept the package in hand. If you live by yourself and you know that only you will be accepting the package then you really don't need a PO box.
Our general rule is that you never take a pack in hand from anyone. If someone wants to hand deliver the pack, that a package is a loss.
Remember $300/hr for a lawyer and a permanent record or you can just wave the pack good bye and there's no risk at all to you outside you just lost hopefully no more than say $200 for your first order.
My rule is I leave it in the mailbox until after dark and then retrieve it. Perhaps a year ago I outlined my method on meso that you should go around the back of the house when walking back in with your pack in case cops roll up, they won't see you go into the house through your front door, you wear latex gloves and you toss the pack off your property or in the gutter if you can. If there are no cops you then write "return to sender" on the pack and don't open it for a day or two until the coast is clear, keeping the pack in the garage making it appear that you'll be returning it, but you forgot, these are really for those of us that order raws that carry much more legal trouble. When you open the pack you do it late at night should it have a tracking device, that way you can flush the contents and smash the vials or destroy the bag, I prefer having a propane torch on hand for this job as you can burn up the box in your garage and toss the ashes outside and eliminate the evidence. As for a tracking device you never damage this as you will be charged for it, so you wearing gloves so you don't leave any finger prints and also wearing a face mask in case there's a camera in the box toss the tracking device off your property as far away as you can without there being any security camera footage which is a big problem these days because everyone has cameras collecting evidence on everyone, so think this out carefully. I have always opened my packs late at night wearing gloves and a mask using a red light in a place where there are no identifiable features to id my location, but my stuff is a little more risky than a typical domestic order.
You can also use a very bright LED light aimed on the box to blind any camera that might be planted, this is common knowledge, but I've not seen cameras show up in packages yet, but it's something that could eventually happen.
